jason-hague-2AUGUST 2016. I am a pastor, teacher, and writer who is happiest when telling stories. Old stories and new stories, of fatherhood, sonship, and the realities of living in the “already, not yet” kingdom. But more importantly, I am a husband to an exquisite beauty called Sara, and a father to five adorable, intimidating children. My middle child, Jackson, has severe autism. I write about him a whole lot. We live in Junction City, OR, where we cherish our superior coffee and our annual thirteen days of sunshine.

Award Winning Author, Seth Haines, Signs His Second Book with Zondervan Publishers

Seth Haines

AUGUST 2016. Seth Haines’ won the prestigious Christianity Today’s Award of Merit for his first book Coming Clean. The following is Christianity Today’s review.  “Coming Clean is a powerful story of a man whose son was diagnosed with a chronic illness. Instead of turning to God for solace, Haines turned to alcohol to numb the pain—and turned his anger at God. Yet, in coming clean from alcohol abuse, Haines also comes clean about doubts and fears—and their roots in some malformed spiritual experiences among well-meaning believers. Haines’s humility and honesty are disarming. And the fact that alcohol became his idol is a timely warning about abusing God’s good gifts through an inordinate love of them.” —Nathan Finn, dean of the School of Theology and Missions, Union University

The-Happiness-DareAUGUST 2016. Jennifer grabbed my attention on every page with her thoughtful and thought-provoking words on what happiness looks and feels like. This book will inspire you to let your guard down so you’ll be empowered to experience the life-changing and God-given happiness found throughout every season and circumstance. (Melissa Michaels, bestselling author of Love the Home You Have)

I read The Happiness Dare with a recently broken ankle and little mobility and was provoked to see the God of happy holiness within its pages. I found “happy” in a cast, while stuck indoors, as Jennifer invited me to look at the God who both created happiness and gave us a grid in his Word to chase after it, right within our reach. Jennifer invites every kind of reader to find happiness and the God who created it. She not only reveals the beautifully Biblical case for “happy holiness” but she invites us beyond theory and into the living. (Sara Hagerty, Author of Every Bitter Thing Is Sweet)

If you’ve ever wondered if God really cares about your happiness, this book is for you. Within these pages, Jennifer shows us how to live out a “holy pursuit of happiness” and personalizes this with an eye-opening assessment you can take to find out what happiness style you naturally flourish in. I can’t say enough good things about The Happiness Dare! (Lysa TerKeurst, bestselling author and president of Proverbs 31 Ministries)

I absolutely love The Happiness Dare, written by my friend Jennifer Dukes Lee. Based on her own desire to fight for and find happiness on the happy and not-so-happy days, Jennifer offers us so much more than a book. She has created an insightful, fun, wise, and encouraging life-guide to help us become the best version of ourselves by living in our God-given sweet spot. Packed with powerful stories, tools, and everything you need to discover your personal happiness style, you’re in for a treat. Get rid of the guilt and get ready to enjoy the way God made you by starting your personal happiness dare today! (Renee Swope, Bestselling author of A Confident Heart)

In all of our striving for happiness, could it really be that God wants us to be happy too? In The Happiness Dare, Jennifer Dukes Lee helps us discover a truth a lot of us have been missing and dares us to boldly walk in the freedom God intended for us all along. I absolutely loved this book! (Ruth Schwenk, Founder of TheBetterMom.com; author of Hoodwinked and Pressing Pause)

Happiness―it’s that elusive destination our culture seeks at all costs. And often when we finally grasp the slippery emotion, it’s fleeting. In The Happiness Dare, Jennifer unpacks the journey to a truly happy life found in Christ instead of our feelings. It’s practical, it’s encouraging, it’s a dare we should all take! I highly recommend this book. (Kristen Welch, Author of Rhinestone Jesus)

With her familiar warmth and wisdom, Jennifer Dukes Lee has written a captivating book that will transform the way you think about happiness. Combining biblical truth and brilliant storytelling, she answers all of the questions I have privately wondered about happiness, revealing how it beautifully intersects with joy and h0liness in the Christian life. You don’t want to miss The Happiness Dare. It will have you doing your own happy dance. (Jeannie Cunnion, Author of Parenting the Wholehearted Child)
Jennifer Dukes Lee’s insightful and engaging words share not only the how of happiness but also the heart of it. More than just helpful information, The Happiness Dare lays out a path to spiritual and emotional transformation. As someone for whom happiness doesn’t come naturally or easily, I wish I’d had this book years ago. (Holley Gerth, bestselling author of You’re Already Amazing)

As I read The Happiness Dare, I kept repeating one sentence to myself about its author: Wow, she really gets me. Jennifer is a most insightful and trustworthy writer, and I connected with this book in a way I’ve connected with few others. Not only is The Happiness Dare the best kind of medicine for any woman who fears happiness is unattainable or unholy; reading it is just plain fun. Pick up this engaging book and discover your own sweet spot of happiness: where your earthly pleasure meets heavenly joy. (Kristen Strong, Author of Girl Meets Change: Truths to Carry You through Life’s Transitions)

I was so blessed and challenged by reading this book. It spoke to me at a deep level and inspired me to embark on my own Happiness Dare! Thank you, Jennifer, for inspiring us all to boycott cynicism and wring the delight out of the ordinary days. (Crystal Paine, bestselling author and founder of MoneySavingMom.com)

ssss Rebecca Reynolds

Rebecca ReynoldsJULY 2016. In May of 2014, Janice Shaw Crouse, speech writer for the first President Bush, wrote an article for The American Spectator titled The Loneliness of American Society. In this article Crouse unpacks a number of reasons why our nation is lonelier now than at any point in its history. Her research indicates that one fourth of Americans have no one they can talk with about their personal experiences. If family members are taken out of this equation, the number jumps to one half. That means between 80 and 159 million people in this country are suffering from isolation. Loneliness is a national epidemic, and people are looking for answers.

Loneliness is a universal pain point. Any time we walk down a public street, at least half the people we pass are looking for answers to their inner anguish. Many are ruining their lives self-medicating with affairs and addictions trying to make the ache stop. How can we reach them? What can break through?

In this book I will write fifteen personal letters on felt-needs topics that twenty years of ministry have brought to my attention. The tone will be personal, poetic, and image-based to appeal to the postmodern reader. I will combine orthodox theology with evocative narrative to create a refuge, a landing place away from frantic news broadcasts and social media feeds, a place to simply be known and cared for.

Over hundreds of years, friends have exchanged letters to provide companionship and encouragement to one another, and before that, God chose to deliver a great deal of the New Testament in epistles. So this is a new idea that is also one of the oldest ideas. As I look around at the mass disorientation of our time, I want to find a way to transform our present national brokenness into beauty.  I want to create a space for worship that is honest, intimate, and nurturing, because I have seen the faces of the hurting. I want to tuck messages of hope into a bottle and cast that into the sea of wanderers, so that those who find them will know that they are seen and loved in the chaos of a lonely world.
