Sandy Silverthorne - Author Biography
Sandy Silverthorne has a special gift. He has that rare combination of artist and writer whose works appeal to both parent and child. This Disney-esque quality is accomplished through his humorous words and drawings and the way they creatively interact with one another.
Sandy was once a tour guide at Universal Studios and later became an actor and director, working on several TV shows and stage productions in LA. But it was Sandy’s love for art that led him into a career as a cartoonist and illustrator. His cartoons have appeared in Leadership, Campus Life and Youthworker magazines. Sandy has also illustrated over twenty (20) books. Some of his clients include Zonderkidz, Focus on the Family, Doubleday Publishing, Universal Studios, Putnam Publishing, MTM Television, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Recently, Sandy was hired by Zondervan for their latest Zonderkidz Bible project. He is providing cover art, interior art, and 52 devotionals. Standard Publishing has also contracted with Sandy to do a three book series for tweens called “The Survival Series.”
Sandy’s publishing history includes: The Great Bible Adventure (71,000 sold) which won the C.S. Lewis Children’s Book Silver Award, The All Time Awesome Bible Search (74,000 sold) an ECPA Gold Medallion finalist, In Search of Righteous Radicals (26,000 sold), and The Awesome Book of Bible Facts (35,000 sold). These books have been published in eight different languages and are currently distributed throughout Europe. In addition, Sandy wrote and illustrated six books titled, The Kirkland Street Kids, published by Cook Communications.
Sandy’s other clients have included: Weyerhaeuser Industries, The University of Washington, Universal Studios Tour, Taco Time International, The Graham Kerr Show, Northwest Subway, Inc., Harvest House Publishers, The Charlotte Hornets, and Emmy Magazine.
Since 1997, Sandy has been on the pastoral staff of Eugene Faith Center. He lives with his wife and daughter in Eugene, Oregon.
