Melody Rossi - Author Biography

Melody Rossi

Melody Rossi, in some circles, is best known as a professional opera singer. She has performed with numerous opera companies in venues from the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. to the Vatican in Rome. During her singing career, she was a regular soloist at the Crystal Cathedral, and her voice can still be heard there as the Angel in The Glory of Christmas.

In 1994, while seeking to overcome infertility, Melody suffered a surgical error that nearly took her life. Her year-long recovery became a pivotal point in her Christian walk, and gave her tremendous compassion for those who suffer from serious illness. Later, when her parents were dying, the insights she gained from her own near-death experience helped her become a more effective messenger of the gospel.

After recovering from her illness, Melody taught in inner-city schools, where she began to see the tremendous needs of urban adolescents and teens. She subsequently founded Cloud and Fire Ministries, an organization which evangelizes, disciples, and educates at-risk youth. She now oversees this full-time ministry, which targets young people who reside in one of the worst gang areas of Los Angeles.

Melody and Pride, her husband of twenty-five years, reside in Granada Hills, California. Their painful struggle with infertility prompted them to become missionaries to the inner city. Though they have no children of their own, they are parents to almost 100 young people. Vanessa, a teen from their ministry, was abandoned by her parents, and now lives with Pride and Melody as part of their family.

Melody’s first book, May I Walk You Home will be published by Bethany House in 2007.
