Joanne Heim - Author Biography

Joanne Heim

Joanne Heim is the author of Living Simply: Choosing Less in a World of More (Multnomah, 2006) and the coauthor (with her husband, Toben) of Happily Ever After: A Real-Life Look at Your First Year of Marriage and Beyond… (Kregel, 2006), Mosiaxstudy.com/Community (NavPress, 2001), Mosaixstudy.com/Men&Women (NavPress, 2001) and What’s Your Story? An Interactive Guide to Building Community (Pinon Press, 1999). She has also written or ghostwritten a number of Bible studies and study guides.

She has been a guest on numerous radio programs, including “Focus on the Family” with Dr. James Dobson, Moody’s “Midday Connection,” and “Life on the Edge—LIVE” by Focus on the Family. She has also appeared on television, including LeSea Broadcasting’s program, The Harvest Show. She has also been featured in many publications, including Bridal Guide, Everyday Woman, and Marriage (Marriage Encounter).

She first noticed her husband in her ninth-grade algebra class and they began dating when she was 16. When Toben proposed the night before she graduated from high school, she said, “Yes!” They attended Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington and got married in 1991. Joanne graduated in 1993 with degrees in Communication Studies and French, thrilled that the all-nighters associated with being the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper were over.

After a summer working in Paris for a French software company and learning that just a slight mispronunciation can change the meaning of a word, she began working for NavPress Publishing Group as a publicist before becoming the senior copywriter and a project editor.

Joanne is now a full-time mom to Audrey (8) and Emma (6), and writes in between Brownie meetings and volunteering at school. The Heim family recently moved to Denver to live near their families. Now the Sunday dinner table is usually full and babysitting is always free.
